Have a Google account? Google, through its effort to collect data, knows a lot about you. Google saves everything from chat conversations, emails, pictures, and blog entries to web searches, the advertisements on which you click, and even what you watch on YouTube. Google can use this information to target you with specific advertisements and search results.

Yahoo!-Google and Antitrust: Leave Google Alone!

In April 2008, Microsoft and Yahoo! appeared ready to sign a deal to combine the two companies. Microsoft would buy Yahoo! shares for a little over $30 apiece. But as often happens at these high levels, Yahoo! was stolen away by another suitor, Microsoft’s arch-nemesis, Google. As opposed to an outright buyout, Google sought to sell its ads to Yahoo! such that Google ads would appear on Yahoo! search pages.

Google’s Knight in Shining Chrome: Microsoft’s Worst Nightmare?

Last week Google released Chrome, its long rumored and long anticipated internet browser. For some time now, Google has enjoyed the leading market share amongst internet search engines and internet advertising. Many viewed its foray into the browser market to be inevitable. The free open source browser is clearly intended to compete with Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, which currently controls around 70% of the browser market.
